Build the Future

Privacy policy

Short version: we collect what you give us, we use it to send you email about our work, and we don't sell it to anyone.

What we collect

If you sign up for updates, we collect the name, email address, and ZIP code you enter. That's it. We don't ask for anything else and we don't buy information about you from anywhere else.

If you make a contribution, that transaction is handled by our payment processor, not by us. Contributions to a Connecticut political committee are subject to state disclosure requirements, which means certain information about contributors becomes part of the public record filed with the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

What we do with it

We use your email address to send you updates about our work. We use your ZIP code to understand where our supporters are and to send you things relevant to your part of the state. We don't do anything else with it.

What we don't do

If you ask us to connect you

If you write and ask us to help you get involved with your local Democratic Town Committee, we will usually just send you the right person's contact details so you can reach out yourself. If you would rather we made the introduction, we will pass along only what is needed to do that, and only because you asked.

Who else touches your data

Our email list is managed by Action Network, and contributions are processed by Anedot. Both are service providers acting on our behalf, and both have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data. We may also be required to disclose information if the law requires it.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit the site, which pages they read, and roughly where in the state they're coming from. It sets a cookie in your browser and reports things like the page you landed on, the kind of device you used, and the site that sent you here. It doesn't tell us who you are, and we don't connect it to your name or email if you sign up. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy.

We don't run advertising trackers, we don't build profiles of you, and we don't share any of this with advertisers. If you'd rather not be counted, any browser extension that blocks analytics works on this site, and nothing on the site breaks if you use one.

The embedded signup form is served by Action Network and follows their own practices.

Unsubscribing and removal

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately. If you'd rather be deleted from our records entirely instead of just unsubscribed, reply to any email from us and say so, and we'll take care of it.

The map on our site

The district map is built from public data published by the State of Connecticut and from publicly available candidate filings. It doesn't collect anything about you, and nothing you type into the district search is sent anywhere or stored.

Children

This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date below. If the change is significant, we'll say so in an email rather than quietly editing the page.
